Chocolate Peanut Butter Roasted Banana Milkshake
A milkshake of epic proportions.
Today I’m celebrating the most epic flavor combo of them all: chocolate and peanut butter. The crowd goes wild every time I post a recipe that incorporates the two flavors–every. single. time. You guys can’t get enough of it. The chocolate/peanut butter combo has become so popular that there are Pinterest boards dedicated to the cause.
I’m a first hand witness to the lengths some folks will go in order to satiate their fierce craving for the delicious duo. My Skinny Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Shake continues to hold the #1 spot for popularity. It has the most pins, shares, and Internet features.
You love it. I love it. We all love chocolate and peanut butter–together. forever. amen.
Carla of Chocolate Moosey and Miriam of Overtime Cook decided the epic combo needed its own holiday (as do I), so they declared March 25th Chocolate Peanut Butter Day.
I decided to create decadent version of my skinny shake. Instead of yogurt, I used rich, full-on-fatty chocolate ice cream. The real deal, folks. I traded frozen bananas for roasted bananas. This chocolate peanut butter roasted banana milkshake will blow your mind and tastebuds.
Let’s talk about roasted bananas. It’s super simple, and the flavor is unbeatable. You’ll want to use ripe, but not overripe bananas for roasting. The banana should still be firm and mostly yellow. Roast the bananas on a baking sheet lined with parchment in a 400 degree F. oven for 15 minutes.
The skin will turn completely black and the inside will be very soft. Allow the bananas to cool on the pan for 10 minutes. Remove the skin and allow the bananas to cool completely before making your milkshake. I placed my bananas in the fridge to speed up the process.
This shake blends up super thick, rich, and creamy. It’s the perfect balance of chocolate, peanut butter, and banana.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Roasted Banana Milkshake
A rich, creamy blend of chocolate, peanut butter, and roasted bananas.
Ingredients:
2 ripe bananas
8 scoops chocolate ice cream
3 tablespoons peanut butter
1 tablespoon chocolate syrup, plus extra for topping
1/3 cup milk
whipped cream for topping
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Place the bananas on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the skin turns black and the bananas are soft. Allow the bananas to cool on the pan for 10 minutes. Remove the skin and allow the bananas to cool completely.
Drizzle the sides of 2 large glasses with chocolate syrup.
Add the roasted bananas, ice cream, peanut butter, chocolate syrup, and milk to a blender. Blend until smooth. Divide the mixture between your prepared glasses. Top with whipped cream and extra chocolate syrup. Serve immediately.
