Slice of Life Saturday’s ~ 200+ Cookies
Well, hello! How are ya? It’s been far too long since I’ve posted a Slice of Life Saturday (SOLS) post. I hope this post finds you hunky-dory.
Where have I been? I’m glad you asked. I’ve been around. You know, doing a littel of this and a little of that. Frankly, I’ve been lazy. Summer does that to me. I despise the heat with every ounce of my being. I hole up in the house until the sun goes down and the air cools off before venturing outside.
Okay, so I may have lied. I haven’t been too lazy. I’ve been pumping out granola and cookies like nobody’s business. Remember my Blueberries & Cream Granola post? Well, I’ve been taking orders for my granola. It came out of no where. All of a sudden, people started placing orders. What I got in return were dolla bills. Whoa! Money for granola? I like it.
I recently took on an order for cute little stacked wedding cookies for a bridal shower. They sure were cute, and the bride loved them. She loved them so much, she got all teary-eyed. I love tears of joy. Cute–yes. But, my gosh, were they tedious little buggers. They required rolling out dough ball after dough ball of vanilla-almond sugar cookies. Then they got frosted. Then they got stacked. Then they got decorated. In the end, I had an arthritic hand from piping so many dots on far too many cookies. Would I do it again? You betcha!
So, I’m sorry for my absence. I’d like to be Wonder Woman, and I do try, but it doesn’t always pan out.
Working isn’t the only thing I’ve done all summer. I’ve been running, cycling, and cocktail-sipping. Yup, there’s been a lot of cocktail sipping. We like our cocktails around these parts. Reisling has been my cocktail of choice this summer. It’s crisp, fruity flavors are perfect on a hot evening. Oh, there has also been a lot of corn hole tournaments. I don’t know what it is about throwing bags full of dried corn into a hole, but it sure is fun. Plus, I’m extremely competitive. My brother and I will lie, cheat, and steal in order to win. Just kidding, we don’t cheat; we’re respectful corn hole players.
Here’s what summer looked like for me:
Oh yeah, sand in my toes happened in June.
Crazy beach hair!
Buckets of fries loaded with vinegar right in my mouth.
Cocktail sippin’!
Flower picking and bouquet arranging.
Cats that believe themselves to be humans.
A perpetual mess in the kitchen.
Millions of peaches, peaches for me!
Cute little baby faces!
And Maryland crab pickin’!
I hope your summer has been as pleasureable as mine. Mostly, I’m over summer. Sure, I’ll miss the produce, but I’m certainly not going to miss the sticky, relentless heat. I’m ready to bust out my fall wardrobe. Bring on the boots, sweaters, skinny jeans, and fancy scarves. Bring on the pumpkin, apples, cinnamon, and cider.
I’ve been a pinning fool:
Limoncello Raspberry Prosecco Cooler from The Comfort of Cooking
Coffee Nutella Swirl Ice Cream from Crazy for Crust
Homemade Puff Pastry from The Cooking Actress
No-Bake Samoas Cookie Granola Bars from Averie Cooks
Peaches & Cream Stuffed Cupcakes from Chocolate Moosey
I’m craving…
Sea Salt Caramel Stuffed Snickerdoodles from The Comfort of Cooking
Mini Cherry Muffin Cup Pies from Hungry Couple
Banana Pumpkin Breakfast Shake from Dine & Dish
Look what I made:
Chicken Gyros from Juanita’s Cocina- Want an authentic tasting chicken gyro? Look no further. These gyros were tangy, delicious, and easy to make. Squirrel and I loved them and will be making them again and again.
Skinny Chicken Enchiladas from Skinny Taste- Tender shredded chicken wrapped up in a soft tortilla shell topped with a smoky sauce… What’s not to love? Oh, and they’re skinny. The flavor is unbeatable.

Awesome that you have turned blogging into a business! But summer should never end! So sad that it’s already Labor Day.
Jealous – can you believe I haven’t had Maryland crabs yet this summer? Am I too late? Miss ya girl!
You’ve had such a fabulous summer, Jennie! You deserve it after working so hard in school. I’m thrilled for you that your business is taking off. When you really make it big, can you hire me? I’ll come and do all that pesky piping for you!
How great about your little business you have going on! Those cookies are adorable!
oh my goodness, so many things going on! and the summer has flown by us, too; here’s to totally adorable wedding cake cookies, wee babes, cats, and lots of vinegar fries and cocktails; sounds like a fantastic summer. Are you so ready for fall? I am so ready for fall, girl.
Yeah for a successful business venture, so proud of you. You rock.
Great summer. I love the pic of your feet, lol.
Thanks, Kim. Summer is the only time I’ll pay for a pedicure.
I do the occasional baking jobs on the side too, and sometimes when I’m in the midst of them I wonder why I agreed to them. But when they’re done, I find myself itching for the next one. Those cookie cakes are just darling! And I would love some of those vinegar fries right now.
I think the same way, Rachel. Usually because I’m running around like a crazy person, but it’s so rewarding in the end.
