Mixed Berry Martini
Sweet mixed berry simple syrup gets shaken with blueberry vodka and fresh squeezed lemon juice.
I have been in a cocktail shaking kind of mood as of late. I’m going to go ahead and blame it on my recent trip to the library. They had a bunch of bar books on display, and I couldn’t resist the urge to tuck half of them in my library bag.
Yup, I have a special canvas bag dedicated to library books. Yes, I’m well aware of my nerdy qualities. Again, yes, I’m turning into an old lady who makes weekly library trips.
If I’m being honest, I don’t need an excuse to pick up my shaker and experiment with different flavors and liquor pairings. Just the other day, I took a trip to the giant liquor store by my house and stocked my bar with the essentials: gin, vodka, bourbon, rum, etc.
This mixed berry martini is a result of dying berries I had wasting away in my fruit drawer. No surprise there. I can always count on at least one container or soft berries or a few shriveled oranges nestled in my fruit drawer. In this case, I was grateful for my neglect.
Today, the #SundaySupper team is having a Red Carpet Party to celebrate the Oscars. A party wouldn’t be complete without food and cocktails, so we have you covered.
Since the Oscars are all about who’s wearing what, I’ve chosen my fanciest Karen Neuburger pajamas and fluffy Ugg slippers for the occasion. How’s that for celebrity style?
I almost forgot about the accessories. I’ll be pairing my stylish pjs with a blue crystal martini glass filled with this mixed berry martini.
Diamante bags and diamond bracelets are so last year. It’s all about martinis and fancy cocktail glasses.
This martini is a combination of mixed berry syrup, blueberry vodka, and a splash of fresh lemon juice. I made the mixed berry syrup by simmering 1 cup each of strawberries and blueberries (fresh or frozen) with 1 cup of water until the water becomes a dark magenta color. The process takes about 15 minutes. Strain the syrup through a mesh strainer and stir in 3/4 cup of granulated sugar while the mixture is still hot. Refrigerate until you’re ready to use. The mixture will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
This martini is the perfect combination of sweet and tart. It’s stunning pink hue and berry flavor is sure to impress your friends.

This sounds like such a fun and creative way to use up leftover berries. The mix of sweet syrup with fresh lemon must give it a really nice balance.
