This Triple Citrus Whiskey Sour incorporates tart lemon and lime juice with a splash of sweet freshly-squeezed orange juice. A generous swig of whiskey and healthy dash of simple syrup and the mixture is shaken to foamy perfection.

In my opinion, the classic whiskey sour is under appreciated. Yes, it’s a retro cocktail that was popular way back when, but the great thing about a classic cocktail is that it never goes out of style.

The only two people I know still keeping the drink alive is my father-in-law and grandmother, which is unfortunate, really, because it’s a damn tasty cocktail. It’s also super easy to make, and I’m willing to bet that you have most of the ingredients–if not all–handy.

The classic version of the whiskey sour calls for one type of citrus juice, and that’s lemon. In addition to the lemon, I also added a splash of lime and orange juice. Both the lemon and lime juice give the cocktail it’s signature pucker, while the orange juice balances it out, adding a bit of sweetness.

Since today’s St. Patrick’s Day, you can easily add a bit of Irish to this cocktail by using an Irish whiskey. I’m a Jameson gal all the way, but feel free to use your favorite brand.
