Thirsty Thursday: Strawberry Shortcake Martini
This Strawberry Shortcake Martini is a sip-able version of the classic layer cake. It’s a combination of strawberry shortcake vodka, vanilla vodka, strawberry jam, and cream. It’s the perfect summer cocktail and a great way to enjoy cake without all the work.
It’s been over a month since my last Thirsty Thursday post. I left you with this fruity Tiki Punch right before I left for Chicago and haven’t posted a single cocktail recipe since–for shame! I get you guys all excited for weekly cocktails, and, just like that, I take it away.
But, you know, life happens. I hope you’ll accept this sweet, creamy, very delicious cake-inspired cocktail as my apology.
I turned the big 29 + 2 this past Tuesday and wanted to celebrate but didn’t have the energy to make a cake, or the desire to turn on my oven, so I opted for a virtually effortless alternative: a cake-like cocktail.
Honestly, who has time to make a cake? Also, let’s be real, do we really feel like turning on our ovens when it feels like hot breath outside? Okay, bad analogy for a food blog. Not much turns me off when it comes to food.
Back to time. There’s so little of it, and the summer seems to be slipping by so fast (it’s almost July!), that I’m sure you have far better things to do than stay cooped up in the house waiting for a cake to bake and cool.
Like, the pool! I’d much rather be lounging by the pool working on diffusing some of the glow that is my legs. I’m so white, guys! And, not to mention sipping one of these martinis poolside.
When I was in the liquor store the other day on my weekly excursion for booze, I spotted Strawberry Shortcake Pinnacle Vodka. In the cart it went (it’s a huge liquor store, and I’m a huge fan of liquor), along with vanilla vodka and a few other essentials.
Since I’m still lovin’ up on strawberry jam, I decided that I might as well add it to the shaker with the vodka and cream and see what happens. Good things happened. The jam added the much needed boost of sweetness and fresh strawberry flavor.
This was the perfect cocktail to celebrate my birthday–cake without the effort. I even went over my two-cocktail limit. Shh, don’t tell anyone.
